Tens of thousands demonstrated today, Saturday, in both the British capital, London, and the Swedish capital, Stockholm, to denounce Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip and to demand an immediate ceasefire and an embargo on arming Israel.
The streets of London witnessed a massive demonstration in which tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in the city centre as part of the 18th National March in Solidarity with Palestine, and then headed on foot towards the Israeli embassy.
The demonstrators demanded that the British government completely ban arms exports to Israel.
The participants carried Palestinian flags and banners with slogans such as “Save Gaza,” “Stop arming Israel,” and “Stop the shooting now.”
The demonstration also included chants calling for “Freedom for Palestine”, and was attended by prominent figures including Absana Begum, an independent member of the British Parliament, and the Palestinian Ambassador to London, Hussam Zomlot, in addition to many representatives of civil society organizations and human rights organizations.
British police arrested a person who “tried to provoke the demonstrators” with a banner he was holding, according to a statement.
The demonstrators also remembered the Turkish-American activist Aisha Nur Azgi Aygi, who was killed yesterday, Friday, by an Israeli sniper in the West Bank, while participating in a demonstration against settlements, and offered condolences to her family.

Stockholm demonstration
In the Swedish capital, thousands of people demonstrated to denounce the Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip and demand their immediate cessation.
The demonstrators also condemned the killing of Turkish-American activist Ayse Nur Azgi Aygi.
About 3,000 people gathered in the demonstration in the Odenplan area of Stockholm in response to calls from several civil society organizations.
The demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and banners with slogans such as “Free Palestine, Free Gaza,” “Stop the genocide,” and “Boycott Israel.”
Participants in the event marched to Raoul Wallenberg Square, chanting “Children are being killed in Gaza” and “Freedom for Palestine”, and accused the United States of complicity in Israel’s crimes.
It is noteworthy that Israel, with American support, has been continuing a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 135,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
