A Syrian official source told the island that “the statements related to the signing of a peace agreement between Israel and Syria at the present time are premature.”

On Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that “his country has an interest in the inclusion of new countries – such as Syria and Lebanon – to the circle of peace and normalization.”

However, the Syrian source emphasized that it is not possible to talk about the possibility of negotiating new agreements except after Israel’s full commitment to the 1974 disengagement agreement.

The source added that this possibility will not happen also before Israel withdrew from the areas where it has penetrated in the recent period.
