Supporters of Hezbollah and the Amal Movement late Thursday evening participated in popular marches and gatherings in a number of Lebanese regions in protest against the government’s decision to assign the army to develop a plan to limit the weapon in the hands of the state.

Streets in the southern suburb of Beirut witnessed marches in cars and motorcycles, in which the participants raised the flags of Hezbollah and the Amal movement and launched chants condemning the government’s position.

Some areas in southern and eastern Lebanon have also witnessed similar moves to denounce the endeavors to the displacement of Hezbollah’s weapon.

Pictures showed that demonstrators burned rubber tires in some streets, amid the spread of the army.

On Thursday, the Lebanese government approved at its meeting the goals of the American memorandum to extend and confirm the agreement to stop hostilities that ended the war last November between Israel and Hezbollah.

The government has postponed discussion of the four items of the four items in the memorandum, until it received the Lebanese Army’s plan to limit weapons, by the end of August.

In protest against the Prime Minister’s decision to discuss the schedule contained in the American paper, the ministers affiliated with Hezbollah, the Amal Movement and the independent minister belonging to the Shiite community, Fadi Makki, withdrew from the cabinet session, while the Lebanese Minister of Information said that this step did not affect compatibility.

The Hezbollah Bloc in the Lebanese Parliament had said that the Prime Minister’s adoption of the paper of the American envoy Tom Barak is evidence of its coup against the pledges he committed in its ministerial statement.

Hezbollah has repeatedly announced that it would not accept the delivery of its weapon under any circumstance.
