United Nations officials condemned the idea of deporting people from Gaza, noting that it is strictly prohibited under international law, after President Donald Trump announced that the United States would seize Palestinian territory and reinstall his private war population.

United Nations Antonio Guterres will warn on Wednesday against “ethnic cleaning” of around 2.3 million people in Gaza, his spokesperson said.

“The secretary general will say that in the search for solutions, we must not worsen the problem. It is essential that we remain faithful to the basis of international law. It is essential to avoid any form of ethnic cleaning. And, of course, he will reaffirm the solution to two states, “the journalists the spokesman for Guterres, Stephane Dujarric, told journalists.

The UN Volker Turk Human Rights Head was final in his response to Trump’s statements, which have aroused indignation around the world. “Any forced transfer or deportation of people from the occupied territory is strictly prohibited,” said Turk.

Trump announced the plan at a press conference in Washington, DC, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a few hours earlier, double his previous suggestion to remove the Palestinians from the Enclave beaten by the war. Experts said it would be an ethnic cleaning.

“Riviera du Middle East”

At the press conference on Tuesday, the president said that the United States should “take control” from Gaza and launch a major redevelopment to transform the territory into “Middle East Riviera”. He also called to move the population of Gaza to “other countries with a humanitarian heart”.

His announcement encountered a shock and audible dressings on the part of the people present. It has since been rejected by the people and the Palestinian leaders, the powers of the Middle East and the governments of Spain, France, Russia, China and the Republic of Ireland, among others.

Neighboring countries have also repeatedly rejected the prospect of large -scale transfers of Gaza Palestinians, which was leveled in a 15 -month war between Hamas and Israel. At least 47,552 people in Gaza were killed in the fighting.

In his statement, Turk said that instead of Trump’s statements, international emphasis should now be on the conclusion of an agreement on the second phase of the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Trump has repeatedly claimed the merit of having concluded this agreement, which entered into force on January 19, the day before its entry into office.

But Israel and Hamas only accepted the first 42 -day phase of the agreement, which remains in progress. He saw a break in the fighting and the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the possible release of 33 captives held in Gaza.

The second phase would see a more complete end of war and a release of the remaining captives, but Netanyahu faced the pressure of his own government to resume the fighting.

A third phase possibly aims to see the reconstruction of Gaza, although no day plan has not yet emerged.

“It is crucial that we are heading towards the next phase of the ceasefire, to release all the hostages and prisoners arbitrarily detained, to end the war and to rebuild Gaza, with full respect for international humanitarian and the International human rights law, “said Turk.

‘An international crime’

Speaking at a press conference in the capital of Denmark Copenhagen on Wednesday, Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on occupied Palestinian territory, also denounced Trump’s plan as “illegal, immoral and completely irresponsible”.

“It is an incentive to commit a forced displacement, which is an international crime,” said Albanian.

International law prohibits the seizure of a sovereign territory without the consent of the controlling government.

Rights experts have said that because the UN Superior Court ruled that Israel was an illegal occupant of the Palestinian territories, the Israeli authorities have the right to put Gaza control to a foreign power.

Analysts also stressed that as a force of occupation, Israel is prohibited from permanently withdrawing the Palestinians from the enclave.

Albanese warned if the American president continued with this plan: “This will worsen the regional crisis”. She called on the world leaders to take a stand.

“The international community is made up of 193 states and it’s time to give the United States what it has sought: isolation,” she said.
