Ramallah- On the second anniversary of the assassination of Al-Jazeera correspondent Sherine Abu Aqleh by Israeli occupation bullets in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank, Palestinian researcher and media personality Mahmoud Al-Fatafta issued a new book titled “Shireen Abu Aqleh: Stories and Secrets.”
The book, which came in 242 medium-sized pages, was issued by the “Researchers Without Borders” group and published in Ramallah, while the cover was designed by journalist Youssef Al-Karnaz.
In his new book, Al-Fatafta discusses the details of the assassination, the contradiction of Israeli narratives, and the position of the Israeli media at the time regarding the assassination. Then he moves on to monitor Arab and international reactions and the events after the assassination.
The author also presents accounts of Sherine through the eyes of her colleagues, and honoring her after her martyrdom, with pictures of the late journalist before and after her martyrdom.

In the introduction to the book, Al-Fatafta gives a number of descriptions of the martyr, stating that she is “the sun of media, embroidered with a sound heart, a brilliant mind, a living conscience, radiant skill, deep knowledge, and belonging to Palestine, far from the vocabulary of race, sect, party, profession, and others,” and adds, “We learned from Shirin love.” The issue and its people, in parallel with the media’s love that aims to root unity, belonging, and construction.”
In his introduction to the book, Tel Aviv Tribune Bureau Director in Palestine, Walid Al-Omari, says that Shirin was a professional and moral reference, an address for the concerns of people and society, and an expert in politics and media, adding that she was proficient in reading in the seas of world literature, politics, and economics, and was also proficient in writing, reading, and speaking in 4 languages.
It was stated on the cover of the book that Sherine will remain the sun of media that will never be extinguished, the memory of generations that will be immortal, and that person that no conscience will forget or be overlooked by tongue.
Speaking to Tel Aviv Tribune Net, Al-Fatafta said that if the body of the martyr Sherine Abu Aqla had passed away two years ago, her soul is still immortalized, and her biography is fragrant in the memory. He added, “Sherine, after her departure – as well as her life – will continue to bear witness to an occupation that kills without being held accountable.” “And he steals without being deterred.”
Al-Fatafta revealed information published for the first time about the late Sherine, including that she used to spend money on orphans and school students on a regular basis, and that she used to provide meals during Ramadan to the visitors of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that she cried secretly when she finished covering a crime against the Palestinian people.
The author also revealed that the late journalist loved life very much in her private life, and used to buy elegant clothes in Istanbul and elsewhere.

On May 11, 2022, fellow Tel Aviv Tribune correspondent Sherine Abu Aqla was martyred when Israeli occupation soldiers shot her with live bullets while covering their storming of the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
At the time, Tel Aviv Tribune Media Network condemned the assassination of Abu Aqla, describing it as “a heinous crime that aims to prevent the media from fulfilling its message,” and held the Israeli government and occupation forces responsible for the killing of the late colleague Sherine.
A statement to Tel Aviv Tribune Network at the time said: “In a tragic murder that violates international laws and norms, the Israeli occupation forces assassinated our correspondent Sherine Abu Aqla in cold blood.”
