Users of electric scooters will have to comply with the new rules which come into force next Monday in the province of Valencia, Spain.
It is the first region in the country to legislate on this issue last year.
To travel, from now on, you will need, among other things, to have a registration document, a license plate and insurance, but also headlights and an audible signal. Driving above 25 kilometers/hour will be prohibited. For violators, the fine could cost 100 to 1000 euros.
In the UK, electric scooters are banned, due to vehicle classification and the rules that apply to them; therefore impossible to drive, unless you are on a private road.
In Europe, emerging legislation on electric scooters attempts to fill a legal gap, and therefore varies by country. In Germany, for example, it is imperative to travel on the road and wear a helmet, while in the Netherlands, authorization and insurance are required. Safety equipment, such as helmets, or the establishment of a minimum age, set in France at 14 years, are among the rules most often adopted to regulate practices.
Since last September, in France, the maximum authorized speed is 25 km/hour, and it is prohibited to transport another person. The amount of the fine in the event of an infraction has also been increased to 135 euros.
