The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that the head of its political bureau, Yahya Sinwar, sent a congratulatory message to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the occasion of his re-election, in which he praised “the Algerian role in standing by the Palestinian people.”
The movement said yesterday, Tuesday, in a statement that is the second by Sinwar since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 (Operation Al-Aqsa Flood), that the head of the movement congratulated President Tebboune in his message “for renewing the Algerian people’s confidence in him to lead the country, hoping from God for his success and assistance in serving Algeria and its authentic people.”
She pointed out that Sinwar “sends his message in light of the heroic epic that our Palestinian people and their resistance are recording with all their bravery and steadfastness in the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, despite the war of genocide they are being subjected to.”
She added that Sinwar “renewed his appreciation for Algeria’s role in standing by the Palestinian people and defending their rights in international forums.”
In his message, he expressed his aspirations for “continuing and developing this supportive and backing role for the Palestinians in all fields to enhance their steadfastness, leading to stopping the aggression, defeating the occupation, and achieving our people’s dream of liberation and return, just as the great Algerian people were liberated, and establishing our independent, fully sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Last Sunday, during a press conference, the head of the Independent Election Authority in Algeria, Mohamed Charfi, announced that Tebboune had won the presidential race, achieving 94.65% of the votes.
On October 28, Sinwar issued his first statement since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, which included announcing his movement’s readiness for a prisoner exchange deal with Israel.
