The Republic of Sao Tommy and Bersep, located off the western coast of Africa, has announced the launch of a new citizenship program through investment, which is one of the latest paths available globally to obtain a second nationality, as of August 1, 2025.
Program fees and conditions
The application fees for citizenship are $ 5,000, which are paid once, regardless of the number of family members.
The program requires a donation to the National Transformation Fund, at a value of 90 thousand dollars per person, and 95 thousand dollars for the family consisting of two to 4 individuals, while it is added 5 thousand dollars for each additional individual.
After approval, an additional fee of 350 dollars is entitled to issue a passport, $ 150 to obtain a national identity card, and $ 250 for the registration certificate for each person. Submission is available to citizens of most countries of the world, including Russia and Iran, with the exception of North Korea citizens.
Development and strategic goals
The donations are devoted to the National Transformation Fund, which funds local development projects, most notably a renewable energy project aimed at turning the country into a regional model in reliance on clean energy. Future plans include developing housing, education and infrastructure sectors.
The authorities emphasized that the program is not limited to granting citizenship, but rather opens broader horizons for investment, and contributes to strengthening the local economy by creating job opportunities and attracting foreign direct investments.
Advantages of the passport
The Sao Tommy and Bernsip passport allows its holder to travel to 61 countries without a prior visa, including South Africa, while the entry of the European Union and the United Kingdom requires obtaining a prior visa.
The program targets investors looking for strategic advantages for the second nationality, such as the restructuring of taxes, the expansion of business, real estate planning, mitigation of political risks, and enhancement of privacy.
