Santa Claus stopped by helicopter in the Hungarian town of Siófok to bring gifts to families in need.
Around a hundred packets were distributed this weekend to dozens of children on the shores of Lake Balaton, in western Hungary, during an event organized by the NGO Baptist Aid.
Despite the current economic difficulties in Hungary, the organization explains having received more donations – and of better quality – than in previous years.
“We have found that the contents of shoe boxes have improved significantly in recent years”notes Márk Szabó, coordinator of Baptist Aid’s “shoebox” action.
“People are no longer just getting rid of their old toys, but are offering children new toys of ever higher quality”he adds.
Before flying off to continue his tour, Santa Claus tried his hand at the town ice rink, to the delight of the children present.
“I think this event achieved its goal, because the smiles of the children are unforgettable”Santa Claus told Euronews.
