The UN Security Council is meeting urgently this Wednesday at the request of Russia.

Moscow accuses Kyiv of shooting down the military transport plane that crashed Wednesday in the Belgorod region, 45 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

According to Russia, 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war were on board the plane.

A prisoner exchange was planned and, according to Moscow, Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses fired two missiles at the aircraft.

Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, calls for “establish the facts”.

An exchange of prisoners was indeed planned in the Belgorod region.

For the moment, Kyiv does not confirm having shot down the plane and provides no explanation.

Russian strikes continue

This Wednesday marked the 700th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In Kharkiv, in the north of the country, rescue teams search through the rubble of buildings destroyed by Russian strikes.

According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 18 people have been killed in bombings this week.
