For having repeatedly denounced the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, Oleg Orlov was sentenced this Tuesday to two and a half years in prison by a Moscow court.

A court decision with immediate effect. Immediately handcuffed after the verdict was announced, the 70-year-old activist was taken to a penal colony.

A figure in the fight for human rights, Oleg Orlov was one of the pillars of the NGO Memorial, dissolved by Russian justice in 2021, but co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.
