Moscow says that Israeli troops did not intervene while the settlers attacked a Russian diplomatic vehicle and verbally threaten diplomats.

Moscow has filed an official complaint with Israel for an attack by Israeli settlers on a Russian diplomatic vehicle near an illegal regulation in occupied West Bank.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow on Tuesday that Moscow considered an “blatant violation of the 1961 diplomatic relations”, and expressed “perplexity and disapproval” that the attack “took place with the comedy of the comedy of Israeli military staff”.

According to Zakharova, the vehicle belonging to the representation of Russia to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and to diplomatic registration plates was attacked on July 30 near the “illegal Israeli colony of Giv’at Asaf”, located east of Ramallah and some 20 km (12 miles) north of Jerusalem, by a group of colonists.

“The vehicle has undergone mechanical damage. The attack was accompanied by verbal threats directed against the Russian diplomats,” said the spokesperson, adding that the Israeli soldiers present “did not even take the trouble to stop the aggressive actions of the attackers”.

According to Russian media reports, the vehicle was attacked while transporting members of the Diplomatic Mission of Russia to the AP, which are also accredited with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Russian Embassy to Tel Aviv sent a letter of approach to the Israeli authorities, added Zakharova.

The first permanent representative of Russia at the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, raised the attack on the diplomatic vehicle on Tuesday during a session of the United Nations Security Council on Israeli captives in Gaza.

Polyansky said the attack on the Russia’s vehicle in the occupied West Bank arrives at a time when “the Israeli authorities adopted the policy of cleaning and colonization” of the Palestinian territory.

“It is the ordinary Palestinians and even foreigners who become victims of raids implacable by the security forces and the violence of the colonists every day,” said the Russian representative of the United Nations.

The “attack on an official vehicle from the Russian mission to the Palestinian authority” was carried out “under the indulgent eye of the Israeli army,” he said.

“It is clear that a systematic policy of exile exile of the Palestinians-whether from the Gaza band or the West Bank-is fraught with new risks and dangers of stability and security in the Middle East and could again bring the region to the brink of a major war,” he added.

Violent attacks of Israeli settlers and soldiers from the occupied West Bank have increased since October 2023, the United Nations reporting that nearly 650 Palestinians – including 121 children – were killed on the territory by Israeli forces and colonists between January 1, 2024 and the beginning of July 2025.

5,269 other Palestinians were injured during this period, including 1,029 children. The attacks of settlers alone represented more than 2,200 victims and cases of damage caused to property, said the UN.
