Russia: America has pushed the Middle East to the brink of a major war news

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States’ approach has put the Middle East region on the brink of a major war, while his deputy, Mikhail Bogdanov, announced Moscow’s readiness to help bring peace between Lebanon and Israel.

Lavrov explained – during his speech at the Second International Conference on Eurasian Security, which was held in Belarus, on Thursday – that Washington’s desire for what he described as a monopoly on the Arab-Israeli settlement has serious consequences.

He added that American policy in the Middle East has brought the region to the brink of a large-scale war, stressing that “the West remains silent about Gaza, and the administration of US President Joe Biden is obstructing any initiative that would end the tragedy of the Palestinian people.”

In this context, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow is ready to help establish peace between Lebanon and Israel, including at the level of bilateral contacts.

Iran and Eurasia

On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the United States’ unilateral withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement approved by the United Nations Security Council, and its attempt to monopolize the process of resolving the Arab-Israeli issue, led to serious consequences on the international scene.

Lavrov pointed out that this approach by the United States made the strategically important region unstable, and put it on the brink of a major war.

Lavrov said, “The comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran, which is being prepared, will be a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations.”

Lavrov accused the United States and its allies of seeking to turn the Eurasian region into a zone of geopolitical conflict.

He said, “The West is committing destructive acts against the South Caucasus, and is trying to impose its own rules on the path to improving relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

With broad American support, since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip that left more than 144,000 Palestinians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst… Humanitarian disasters in the world.

Since last September 23, Tel Aviv has expanded the scope of the war to include most of Lebanon’s regions, including the capital, Beirut, through air strikes, and has also begun a ground invasion in its south.

The aggression against Lebanon resulted in a total of 2,792 dead and 12,772 wounded, including a large number of children and women, in addition to about 1,400,000 displaced people.

Russia has been strengthening relations with Iran and North Korea, two opponents of the United States, since its invasion of Ukraine.
