Tension between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is escalating in light of the variation of their interests in the region, and American decisions are more far from a hard -line vision adopted by the current Israeli government.

In this context, the Israeli Army Radio quoted close to Trump who informed the Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, that the American president decided to cut off contact with Netanyahu, that the latter is manipulating Trump, and that the most hated by Trump is to appear as a person being tampered with.

The radio quoted an Israeli official as saying that Dermer’s conversation with senior Republican officials, with his usual arrogance, did not help.

4 regional files

Commenting on this, the Israeli expert Muhannad Mustafa said that there is an Israeli disappointment from Trump’s second state, as the Netanyahu government believed that the American president would fully identify with Israeli interests.

In his speech to the “Path of Events” program – Mustafa stressed that Trump is behaving in 4 regional files, unlike Israeli interests, noting that the Trump administration signed an agreement with the Houthis on the ships of the Red Sea, and was also involved in talks with Iran on its nuclear program.

In addition, Trump told Netanyahu during his reception at the White House – according to Mustafa – that Syria is within a “Turkish influence zone”, while a Saudi -Saudi agreement is waving a nuclear project without normalizing Riyadh with Tel Aviv.

The Israeli affairs expert acknowledged that relations between the two countries are strategic, but he pointed to high expectations raised by the Israeli government over Trump’s second state.

Mustafa concluded that “Trump sees American interests in the region more important than its Israeli counterpart,” while Netanyahu seems unable to influence Trump in the files of the region, especially after the US Republican Party has turned into what he called the Trump Party.

Strong relationships but

In turn, former White House Communications official Michael Vevefel says that US -Israeli relations are very strong, especially between Trump and Netanyahu, citing the latter two visits to Washington since the start of Trump’s second state in late January.

Fivel acknowledged that part of American politicians are not happy with what Netanyahu is doing, as they would like to see a second ceasefire in Gaza, which Trump wants faster than that of Netanyahu.

Netanyahu is trying to inflict the most pain and damage to Hamas – according to Fivel – before returning to the negotiating table and reaching a long -term ceasefire agreement.

The former US official also admitted that many in the Netanyahu government are not optimistic about the negotiations between Washington and Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program.

Limited strategic tension

For his part, Alon Avitar, a former adviser to Arab Affairs at the Israeli Ministry of Defense, reduced the escalation of tension between Trump and Netanyahu, stressing that the relations between their countries are strong and strategic.

Avitar stressed that what matters to Israel is the continuation of the strategic security defense coalition between Washington and Tel Aviv, and the lack of influence on the Israeli strategic interests in the Palestinian arena.

Without that, any American -Israeli tension – according to this speaker – remains limited and not of a strategic nature, pointing out that the Israeli expectations thought that Trump would be with Netanyahu in all his actions and procedures.

The newspaper “Israel Hume” has reported that Trump was “disappointed” from Netanyahu, and intends to take “steps” in the Middle East “without waiting.”

The newspaper quoted sources as saying that “there is a decrease in personal relationships and mutual disappointment between Netanyahu and Trump.”
