The continuation of the closed consultations held by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his guest, US President Donald Trump in the Qatari capital, Doha for more than two hours, raised questions about the reasons for this, and the files during which they were discussed.
Al -Jazeera correspondent, Wajdi, said that the meeting of the Emir of Qatar and the American president was lengthy, smooth, and discussing thorny files, confirming that it lasted more than the time allocated to him for more than an hour.
According to Wafi, the bilateral meeting witnessed momentum, pointing to Trump’s description of the meeting as interesting, and discussed various issues such as the Iranian file and the Russian -Ukrainian war.
Trump relies on this visit, which he describes as historical, to achieve progress on the political and economic path in the region because of the pivotal role of the State of Qatar in the region.
Among these files is Qatar’s role in the negotiations of the war on Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid, especially with the presence of American envoys Stephen Wittakov and Adam Buller in Doha, says Al -Jazeera’s correspondent.
In turn, the editor -in -chief of the Qatari newspaper “Al -Sharq”, Jaber Al -Harami, expressed his conviction that the meeting carried positives at the level of bilateral relations politically, economically and investing, amid expectations of a new horizon during the coming period.
In his speech to Al -Jazeera, Al -Harami described the meeting as a very positive, pointing out that there are indicators confirming the convergence of the two parties in a common ground.
He pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to obstruct any agreement on the Gaza Strip as it happened, as he does not want a breakthrough on what is going on there.
Netanyahu was not satisfied with that, but rather “raised the ceiling of extermination and bombing hospitals and infrastructure in Gaza,” stressing that he “wants a temporary stand and then the attack on Gaza returns,” according to Al -Harami, who confirmed that the Gaza file is one of the most difficult thorny issues.
He acknowledged the failure of Netanyahu’s policies that focus on military pressure in order to restore the prisoners detained in the Gaza Strip, as well as failed to eliminate the resistance.
For his part, the first researcher at the Al -Jazeera Center for Studies, Dr. Meak Makki, said that the bilateral meeting was not devoted to bilateral relations, with his approval that an important and fundamental development occurred regarding it with the first “official visit” by an American president to Qatar.
Makki suggested that the Gaza file was an essential axis of the bilateral meeting, although Trump did not address in his statements to this file, whether negatively or positively, due to the fact that the indicators are positive on negotiations of the Iranian nuclear program and the Russian -Ukrainian war.
According to Makki, the Gaza file is what has prolonged the duration of the meeting, but he did not rule out a setback on it because of Netanyahu’s intransigence and his desire to quarrel with Trump.
Based on this scene, there will be no quick and urgent solution, considering it not easy, and calling on the mediators to “determine the fate of negotiations” due to the Israeli intransigence.
Al -Jazeera had quoted private sources that Qatari officials and the American envoy, and Yakouf met the Israeli negotiating delegation yesterday, Tuesday, at a meeting that lasted for two hours.
According to Makki, Netanyahu wants to restore part of the prisoners detained in Gaza with a 40 -day truce, then the war on the Gaza Strip, indicating the need for the United States to exert real pressure on Israel because it is the most influential it.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu said that Israel could reach a “ceasefire for a specific time and then we resume the war to the end,” noting that “our forces are ready.”
