In a sudden development within the path of the Palestinian -Israeli conflict, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced direct and advanced negotiations with the administration of the American President, in a move that is the first of its kind, and it may pave the way for understandings leading to a comprehensive ceasefire in.

Negotiating path

Security and military expert Osama Khaled believes that the understanding, which was reached regarding the release of the Israeli soldier, Alexander Alexander, represents a political embarrassment for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, given his inconsistency with the stated targets of his government after October 2023.

Khaled explained – in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net – that Netanyahu is trying to reduce this understanding in the Israeli interior and at the media level, while adhering to military and political policies separate from the American vision that starts from interesting considerations without entering into a direct confrontation with Washington that may harm their strategic relations.

For his part, the political analyst and specialist in the Israeli affairs, Mustafa Ibrahim, considered that the last agreement between Hamas and Washington is not limited to the release of the soldier only, but rather opens the door to a new negotiating equation led by the American administration from outside the full coordination with the Netanyahu government.

Ibrahim talked – in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net – about the signs of deeper political transformations inside the Israeli, as the protests began to escalate from the families of the prisoners and the opposition, coinciding with the tension of the relationship between Netanyahu and Trump, who had a role in concluding this understanding, especially after Netanyahu was informed of the details of the deal at a late time.

He pointed out that what some Israeli analysts described as “moving outside the box” by Trump may constitute the beginning of a new negotiating path on Gaza, and pushes the United States to continue dialogue with Hamas despite the Israeli objections.

American accounts

Ibrahim also saw that Trump’s visit to the Middle East carries a political and diplomatic momentum that could push Washington to conclude a comprehensive agreement that includes the release of all prisoners, at a time when Israel insists on its traditional positions.

But he suggested that the American pressure, in addition to the internal discretions in Israel, may force Netanyahu to reconsider his policies, especially in light of the widening gap of the dispute between him and the opposition over the administration of war and negotiation.

Khaled said that the understanding was made by regional brokers such as Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, with the aim of containing the escalation in the Middle East.

He added that the achieved achievement serves more immediate American priorities than it expresses a strategic shift in American policy towards the Palestinian issue.

He concluded that what happened remains a temporary development that serves American interests without reflecting a fundamental shift in the United States’ dealing with the parties to the conflict in the region.
