Despite the Israeli media talk about an American -Israeli dispute, especially regarding the Gaza Strip, analysts – speaking to the “Beyond the News” program – underestimated the importance of this dispute, and one of them (an American) ruled out that significant measures were announced during this stage, but rather, just small and temporary procedures.
The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” quoted a source in the Israeli government as saying that it had received a message from the United States of America that the administration of President Donald Trump preferred a ceasefire in Gaza instead of a comprehensive Israeli operation. The source talked about fears within the Tel Aviv government of the pressure that Trump would exert on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in order to accept a deal that does not suit Israel.
In his reading of what the Israeli press reported, the former US State Department official, Thomas Warric, said that there is an exaggeration in saying that there are differences between Trump and Netanyahu, but he pointed out that there are differences related to some issues such as the US administration’s agreement with the Ansar Allah group (the Houthis), in addition to Trump’s anger at Netanyahu when he tried to turn to him, and adheres to the military option and not a diplomatic solution.
Bid that Warrick pointed out that he does not yet know what Trump’s position on the Israeli military plan to control and occupy the Gaza Strip, speaking about the existence of limited American pressure on Netanyahu, and said, “The United States will not pressure Netanyahu and force him to conclude a peace agreement that allows the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to remain in power.” He pointed out that Trump and Netanyahu are participating in the idea that Gaza should be ruled and managed by other than Hamas.
He said that the American envoy to the Middle East region, Stephen Wittouf, will focus during the next week on the issue of the Gaza Strip, and will try to push for a partial release of the prisoners, and he suggested that there would be a temporary ceasefire without agreeing about ending the war, and considered that this matter is still far.
He ruled out that a big surprise will be announced during Trump’s upcoming visit to the area, and it is likely that small and temporary measures will be announced, and the American guest commented, “We should not expect large ads during the visit.”
Israeli failure
For his part, the Secretary -General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Al -Barghouthi, said that there are differences between Washington and Tel Aviv, but there should be no exaggeration.
Regarding the Gaza Strip, Al -Barghouti sees – in his talk to the “Beyond the News” program – that the dispute relates to the failure of the Israeli occupation in achieving goals.
He pointed out that the problem lies in Netanyahu and not in Israel, as evidence that the strategic alliance between Washington and Tel Aviv has not changed, but Al -Barghouti saw that Trump is a pragmatic and practical man and if he finds that Netanyahu will continue to fail to achieve his goals, he will have – any Trump – to change his positions in order to preserve the interests of his country, indicating that the matter also depends on the stances of the two Arab nations And Islamic
Al -Barghouti also stressed the need for the Palestinian resistance to adhere to its position on stopping the war, because the occupation wants to continue the war and complete the Judaization and displacement even after receiving its causes, pointing out that the Israeli plan on humanitarian aid is extremely dangerous, because it demands that the aid centers in southern Gaza be crammed until the Palestinians are crammed in a major detention camp to force them to leave.
On the other hand, Alon Avitar, a former adviser to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, spoke to the “Beyond the News” program about what is reported regarding the dispute between Trump and Netanyahu, and said that he does not see a serious and large American pressure on Netanyahu to change what he described as the Israeli army’s strategic plan in Gaza.
