The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) strongly criticized the small aid that entered the Gaza Strip and confirms that residents need tremendous and continuous support to ensure that they do not enter into famine, while the European Union renewed the need to enter humanitarian and medical assistance to the sector urgently.
On Tuesday, I entered the Gaza Strip on Tuesday 5 trucks from 11 trucks through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing, despite Israel’s announcement of its approval to enter 100 trucks. A European Union official described this as “a drop in the environment.”
“Israel is taking advantage of hunger and food for political and military purposes,Gaza needs tremendous support and without obstacles or interruption to ensure the confrontation of the worsening hunger suffered by the residents of the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA warned of the worst humanitarian crisis that the Gaza Strip may face since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, and added in a post on its Facebook page, “The intense Israeli bombing of the air, land and sea resulted in hundreds of victims and collective displacement.”
UNRWA emphasized that it needs tremendous support without obstacles or interruption to ensure that the spread of hunger is stopped in Gaza, and called for not politicizing humanitarian aid because the conditions in the Gaza Strip deteriorate on a daily basis and malnutrition is spreading in the Strip.
The agency called for pressure on Israel in order to bring aid to Gaza.
Aid detention
In turn, an official in the Gaza government stated that only 5 aid truck entered Gaza, on Monday.
The government official added to the Anatolia correspondent, preferring not to be named, that no quantities of aid that entered and are still distributed in the areas of the existence of the Israeli forces.
And that, according to the information available from international relief organizations, these trucks include a very small amount of wheat flour and food supplements, and milk alternatives for children in addition to quantities of coffins.
He pointed out that these quantities “do not meet the needs of up to 1% of the Palestinians in the sector for one day, even if they are fully loaded with food.”
The official in the Gaza government considered that Israel is using a “pressure card” aid and continues to starve the Palestinians in the Strip.
The United Nations confirms that Gaza needs at least 500 trucks of aid and commercial commodities daily. The World Food Program stated that more than 116,000 tons of food, which is enough to feed a million people for up to four months, is ready for delivery.
European anger
In a related context, British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer called on Israel to increase the volume of humanitarian aid that will allow it to enter Gaza, describing the quantities of food that allowed it to enter the Strip recently that it was “completely inappropriate.”
“We cannot allow the people of Gaza to face starvation,” Starmer told British House of Commons during a parliamentary session.
The High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union Kaya Callas also renewed the need to introduce humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Callas – in press statements in Brussels, before a meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union – indicated that there are thousands of trucks waiting for the Gaza crossings to enter the Strip, which is subjected to an Israeli siege.
On Monday, the leaders of Britain, France and Canada threatened on Monday to take action against Israel if its military campaign against Gaza did not stop and lift the restrictions imposed on aid.
A joint statement of the three countries published by the British government stated that “preventing the Israeli government to introduce basic humanitarian aid to the civilian population is unacceptable and violates international humanitarian law.”
The risk of closing
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization said that northern Gaza hospitals are at risk of complete closure.
In its account on the X platform, the organization added that intensive hostilities and military presence are continuing near the Indonesian Hospital since the eighteenth of this month.
She pointed out that most of the patients went out after the fighting on the fifteenth of this month, noting that only 15 people were reported, including patients and hospital employees, and they are in urgent need of food and water.
The World Health Organization warned of the deterioration of the situation quickly in Al -Awda Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, which is suffering from a severe deficiency in supplies.
The organization called for effective health care protection, stressing that he should never be militant or targeted.
Since last March 2, Israel is continuing a systematic starvation policy for about 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza, by closing the crossings in the face of assistance accumulated on the border, which introduced the sector to the stage of starvation and claimed the lives of many.
With absolute American support, Israel has committed since October 7, 2023 genocide crimes in Gaza, which left more than 174,000 Palestinians among a martyr and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11 thousand missing, along with hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
