US President Donald Trump said during his visit to Abu Dhabi that he is looking to find a solution to the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, who are starving.

“We look at the matter of Gaza, and we will work to solve this problem … many people are starving,” Trump told reporters in Abu Dhabi (his last stop in his Gulf tour).

In later statements, he pointed out that many good things will happen about Gaza during the next month.

For his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that he is open to any new ideas to introduce aid to Gaza after severe criticism of a plan backed by the United States and Israel, expressing concern about the humanitarian situation in the sector.

“We are open to an alternative if someone has a better offering, we support all the assistance we can provide to not steal by Hamas from people,” Rubio told reporters in Türkiye, as he claimed.

Humanitarian aid

In turn, the Gaza Humanitarian Corporation – a non -governmental organization backed by the United States – announced the day before yesterday that it will start this month to distribute aid in Gaza.

The Foundation plans to distribute about 300 million meals during a preliminary period of 90 days.

It is not much known for this institution, which is registered in its headquarters since last February in Geneva, but the United States last week supported this institution without revealing whether it contributes directly.

For its part, the United Nations announced that it will not participate in the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation in the distribution of aid in Gaza.

“I have clearly said that we are participating in the provision of aid that is compatible with our basic principles, and we have repeatedly said that this distribution plan is not in line with our basic principles, including the principles of integrity, impartiality and independence, and we will not participate in it,” said UN spokesman Farhan Haq.

He stressed the right to “a plan with the United Nations, an excellent plan ready for the application once we are allowed to perform our work,” noting that trucks loaded 171 tons of food are waiting to be allowed to enter the sector.

Since the second of last March, Israel prohibits any humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, which has a population of 2.2 million, before its military operations in the sector resumed on the 18th of the same month.
