On Sunday, US President Donald Trump praised the announcement of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), its intention to release the American -Israeli hostage, Idan Alexander, and said that the war in Gaza is brutal.
“I am grateful to everyone who contributed to achieving this historical news,” Trump wrote in a post on social media, describing the release of the hostage as a “good intention.”
“We hope that these are the first last steps necessary to end this brutal conflict,” he added, as he expressed his hope for The release of all prisoners and the end of the fighting.
The Hamas movement announced that the Israeli -Israeli -American Idan Alexander will be released, following contacts with Hamas with the American administration during the past days.
Hamas affirmed its willingness to start immediately in extensive negotiations, and made serious efforts to reach a final agreement to stop the war and exchange the prisoners in an agreed manner, and to manage the Gaza Strip from an independent professional committee, ensuring the continuation of calm and stability for several years, in addition to reconstruction and ending the siege.
In the first American comment on the Hamas Declaration, the Washington Entrepreneurial Affairs Envoy, Adam Bouler, said that Hamas’s decision “to release an American is a positive step forward” and demanded that she release the bodies of 4 other Americans.
The Israeli Channel 12 quoted the American envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkev that the United States wants to return the prisoners from Gaza, but Israel does not want to end the war.
The channel added that Witkeov informed the families of the prisoners – during a meeting with them – that Israel extends the war, although the administration of President Donald Trump does not know where to progress yet, and that an agreement should be reached.
It also indicated that the criticism of the American envoy coincides with the willingness of the Israeli army to expand the fighting in Gaza.
