A joint statement issued by the leaders of Britain, France and Canada received a widespread welcoming through social media platforms, after the leaders waved sanctions on Israel if its war did not stop on the Gaza Strip and raise the restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid.

On Monday, the leaders of France, Britain and Canada threatened in a joint statement to take action against Israel if the genocide war has been waging on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

“We strongly oppose the expansion of Israeli military operations in Gaza, that the level of humanitarian suffering in Gaza is unbearable,” the leaders said.

The statement stipulated that “if Israel does not stop its new military attack and raise the restrictions it imposes on humanitarian aid, we will take other concrete steps in response to this.”

The statement did not stop there, but rather strongly condemned “the hateful language of some members of the Israeli government and the threat of forced deportation.”

In this context, Palestinian tweets described the statement as “historic”, noting that it is the first time that major Western countries have waved to impose sanctions on Israel.

Many believed that this position represents a break of the political taboos that have always prevailed in the capitals of the West, as talking about the punishment of Israel from “diplomatic prohibitions.”

But on the other hand, others questioned the actual influence of the statement, considering that: “There is no statement that stopped a massacre, and no statement provided bread, the siege is still suffocating, the killing is continuing, and the suffering is increasing day by day.”

On the other hand, activists and observers described the statement as a dramatic development by all accounts, stressing that the world is witnessing for the first time a real shift in the tone of Western discourse towards the occupation.

They pointed out that the Western positions are no longer limited to “anxiety” or “anxiety” statements, but rather reached an actual wave of penalties, which was previously considered a political taboo in Western capitals.

One of the activists wrote: “The joint statement from Britain, France and Canada officially opens the door for pressure mechanisms, which is an indication of the erosion of the traditional political immunity of the occupation in the West.”

In the same context, bloggers commented that the Western condemnation statement came stronger and clearer than the closing statement of the League of Arab States, although Western countries were one of the most prominent supporters of Israel in the first months of the war.

They added bitterly: “The sponsor of Israel expressed its boredom from the occupation’s behavior and threatens, while Arab countries stand without waving any decisive force papers that can stop the disaster and genocide.”

Welcome from the Palestinian presidency and Hamas

In the same context, the Palestinian presidency and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomed the joint statement issued by the leaders of Britain, France and Canada, which called on Israel to stop the war of genocide on the Gaza Strip and wave to take action against Tel Aviv if a war did not stop.

The official Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) quoted the presidency, describing it to show the leaders of the courage and saying that it is consistent with its position calling for saving and implementing the two -state solution, immediately stopping the aggression, release the detainees and prisoners, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from Gaza, the introduction of humanitarian aid, and the prevention of displacement.

For its part, Hamas said in a statement that it welcomes the joint statement “which expressed an initial position rejecting the policy of the siege and starvation pursued by the fascist occupation government against our people in the Gaza Strip, and for the Zionist plans aimed at genocide and forced displacement.”

The movement considered this position an important step in the right direction towards re -consideration of the principles of international law, which the Netanyahu government sought to undermine and overthrow.
