The UAE has announced its agreement with Israel to allow urgent humanitarian assistance to be delivered to the Gaza Strip.

The agreement came in a telephone conversation between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Israeli Foreign Minister, Jadaoun Saar, according to the Emirates News Agency, which confirmed that the aid will initially meet the food needs of about 15,000 civilians in Gaza. It will also include the basic supplies of bakeries and materials necessary for infant care.

The agency pointed out that Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed during the call “the importance of the arrival of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the Palestinian people in the Strip urgently, intense, safe and without any obstacle.”

“The two sides discussed regional and international efforts to resume the armistice agreement, reach a ceasefire and release the hostages,” she added.

International pressure on Israel has escalated in recent days with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring a new military attack on Gaza, in light of a suffocating siege and prohibited to enter aid since the beginning of last March.

Israel prevents the entry of medical and food supplies and fuel to the sector, prompting international experts to warn against a wave starvation on the horizon.

European Union Foreign Policy official, Kaya Calas, said on Tuesday that the trade agreement between the European Union and Israel will be subject to review in light of the “catastrophic” situation in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier yesterday, a spokesman for the United Nations Humanitarian Office in Geneva said that Israel allowed about 100 aid trucks to enter Gaza.

However, the government media office in Gaza confirmed in a statement yesterday that “the Israeli occupation did not allow any humanitarian, medical and fuel aid truck to enter a completely 2 March 2025.”

The office pointed out that Gaza needs at least 44 thousand aid trucks during this period to meet the minimum basic needs of the population, and stressed that the sector needs daily to enter 500 aid trucks and 50 fuel trucks for vital and medical facilities.

The international community and the United Nations called for “the urgent action to open the crossings, the introduction of food, medicine and fuel to Gaza, and to save hundreds of thousands of civilians before it is too late.”

With an American support, Israel has been committing since October 7, 2023 genocide in Gaza, which left more than 175,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
