Two Palestinian bodies announced the martyrdom of the Palestinian prisoner Muhyiddin Fahmy Saeed Najm (60 years) from the city of Jenin, while he was in the Israeli Soroka Hospital, after his deteriorating health.
The institutions said in a joint statement that a star, who was an administrative detainee since August 8, 2023, spent a total of 19 years in Israeli prisons.
The statement stressed that his death is added to the record of the martyrs of the captive movement, who lost their lives because of “organized crimes practiced by the Israeli occupation prisons system.”
The statement stated that Najm, who is married and a father of 6 children, was subjected to what they described as a “medical crime” by depriving his total treatment. He pointed out that the occupation committed a “complex crime” by his continued administrative detention for more than two years and his deprivation of the necessary health care despite his critical health condition.
Accusations of medical negligence
The joint statement indicated that a star was among the hundreds of sick prisoners who face what they described as “slow killing” in Israeli prisons, as a result of what they considered a systematic medical neglect.
In the same context, the Fatah movement, led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement that “the martyrdom of the prisoner Mohiuddin Najm is a complete execution of the pillars committed by the occupation prisons administration in cold blood through deliberate medical negligence and continuous deprivation of treatment.”
It is noteworthy that the death of a star comes amid repeated accusations by the Israeli authorities of adopting the policies of medical negligence towards the sick prisoners, which raises widespread concern between Palestinian and international human rights institutions.
