Gaza- On a new morning, the smell of gunpowder and blood was burdened, the Palestinians woke up today, Sunday, to a new tragedy after Israel targeted its war machine 5 journalists at once, and despite that, the scene was not strange to Gaza, as the occupation had been killed by the killing of journalists in the Strip since its war began 19 months ago.

These five journalists were not just numbers added to the increasing lists of martyrs, but rather witnesses to the massacres, and narrators of the tales of people who are finished under the rubble, and at the same time, like them, they were trying to survive themselves and their people, one day.

Al -Jazeera correspondent reported that Israeli raids targeted – on Sunday dawn – journalists: Aziz Al -Hajjar, Abdel Rahman Al -Abadleh, Nour Qandil, and her journalist husband Khaled Abu Saif and Ahmed Al -Zenati, which resulted in their martyrdom with a number of members of their families.

Journalist Engineer

The journalist Ahmed Al -Zenati, 35, was an ambitious young man, challenging the conditions of the siege and unemployment, and moved from his basic specialization in civil engineering, to the world of journalism, after he also obtained a master’s degree in business administration with a privilege and was the first to pay him.

His close friend, Siraj Abu Hamam, tells that Al -Zenati, after he closed the doors of work in engineering due to the siege, went to the press, and worked with several institutions, including Siraj Media Network.

He also wrote in foreign blogs and sites, most notably “Tumbler”, documented with sound and image, all the humanitarian crises and daily stories of the Gaza Strip, and its blog, which is followed by thousands of people around the world, was a mirror that transmits the suffering of the Gazans in other languages.

Recently, he focused on documenting famine and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and was greatly affected by massacres and bombing, he does not bear the news of blood and destruction, and most of his concern was that this waterfall stopped from genocide, says Abu Hamam.

As for the journalist Nour Qandil, she formed alongside her journalist husband, Khaled Abu Saif, an example of professional and marital partnership, both of whom studied the press, and all of them as an integrated team in photography, montage and documentary films, as independent journalists, covering and documenting human stories for the benefit of many media outlets.

Muhammad Qandil says that his sister Nour was active, passionate and ambitious, neither tired and tired, and in addition to her work in free photography and montage, she was working in the Department of Information and Public Relations at Jaffa Hospital in Deir Al -Balah until the moment of her martyrdom.

The couple, Nour and Khaled, had their only child 4 months ago, called “September Peace” in conjunction with the negotiations that ended with the last ceasefire last January.

The couple – according to Muhammad – was preparing to launch a media project through communication platforms, and bought a laptop computer recently to use it in the montage, but the Israeli bombing did not give them, and they were martyred with their little girl, and a dream was not seen with them.

The friend of the martyr Nour, the journalist Diana Al -Maghrabi, tells her that she was an active and quiet coordinator for the “Al -Thuraya” café for media and communication “(non -governmental) since 2017, and the first to push her in the media specialization, in the Palestine Technical College, and was known” its politeness, elegance and silent achievement “, and its” deep interest in national issues and resistance “.

Journalist and relief

Journalist Basil El -Sakka talks about his martyr journalist friend Abdel Rahman Al -Abadleh, born in 1994, who holds a diploma in the press that he worked as a free press photographer, and established an electronic platform in the name of “Here is the homeland”, through which he published news, reports and documentary materials.

Al -Abadleh was married and father of 4 children, and despite receiving threats from the occupation intelligence to stop the publication, he continued his work without hesitation, and he was targeted by bombing near his house in the town of Al -Qarara, north of Khan Yunis.

Abd al -Rahman was not only a journalist, but also human, as he was running a camp for the displaced, and providing them with hospice, food and water for drinking.

Aziz and the family

His friend Tariq Al -Dark says: Aziz was passionate about revealing the truth, exposing the crimes of the occupation, and producing, along with his journalistic work, dramatic work for Al -Aqsa Channel.

Aziz’s martyrdom was horrific, as his wife and two of his three children were killed, while his younger daughter was seriously injured.

The trial of the perpetrators

For his part, the deputy head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, Tahseen Al -Astal, says that the massacres against journalists have become systematic, and that the occupation kills them without deterrence or international accountability.

He affirms that the union contacted the International Federation of Journalists and with all international parties, and demanded the activation of Security Council Resolution 2222 issued in 2015, and stipulates the protection of journalists, and the occupation leaders present to the International Criminal Court.

According to the union statistics, the number of journalists who were killed in the war on Gaza increased to 217, most of them were performing their professional duty, in a recent attempt to deliver the voice of their people to the world.
