Military expert, Brigadier Elias Hanna, said that the statements of the Quds Brigade commander in the Israeli occupation army regarding the battles of Al -Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, reflect the field reality and the current war goals for Israel.
Hanna explained – in his interview with the island – that these statements reveal the goals of Israel in Gaza, which are destruction and occupation, in addition to securing the Gaza cover area, which was stormed by the Palestinian resistance in the attack of October 7, 2023.
The Ma’ariv newspaper had quoted the commander of the Jerusalem brigade in the Israeli army as saying that the fighting in the Shujaiya neighborhood was harmful, and the Israeli army paid a heavy price there.
The source added that the occupation army demolished about a thousand buildings in the northern Gaza Strip and killed 250 “gunmen”, noting that there were no buildings in the Shujaiya overlooking Kibbutz Nahal Oz, and that the army performed operations to secure the cover areas.
Israeli challenges
The statements of the Israeli military commander reflect challenges facing the occupation army, which is the tunnel network, the resistance of the resistance and the ferocity of its fighting, according to the military expert Elias Hanna.
Likewise, the occupation army faces other challenges such as the ability of the resistance to acclimate and keep it with what enables it to fight and innovate at the tactical level.
Hanna pointed out that the intensive Israeli air campaign shows the intentions of the occupation to expand the ground operation.
The commander of the Jerusalem Brigade also said that the army had monitored a change in the method of fighting among the Palestinian resistance militants, and its elements possessed non -simple quantities of weapons, noting that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) still possesses a lot of tunnels, and the army has not been able to discover all of them.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Al -Qassam Brigades – the Hamas military wing – broadcast a complex ambush carried out by its fighters against the occupation forces in Al -Shuja’ia, called “Black Al -Manat”.

According to Hanna, the fighting in Beit Hanoun in the north is different from the fighting in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza, as well as different from Rafah in the south, as offensive operations are still carried out within an area described by the occupation army as “safe after the elimination of the resistance in it.”
Earlier, the Israeli army reserves, Yisrael Zeef, said that Hamas had developed the ways of fighting it, stressing that the introduction of large forces into the Gaza Strip increases the chances of injuries.
