The leaks reported today, Monday, that the Israeli government has believed a plan to completely occupy Gaza, in conjunction with the decision to summon tens of thousands of reserve soldiers to expand the fighting in the Strip.
The Israeli Channel 12 quoted a source at the Office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as saying that “the plan that the government has believed includes the entire occupation of the Gaza Strip.”
It stated that the plan approved by the “cabinet” includes the occupation of the Gaza Strip and the transfer of Palestinians from north to the south.
Reuters also quoted an Israeli official as saying that expanding the operation on Gaza may reach the point of controlling the entire sector.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said today, Monday, quoting well -informed sources that the security cabinet headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to gradually expand the attack on Hamas.
“This is a good plan because it can achieve the two goals, namely the defeat of Hamas and the return of the prisoners,” Netanyahu said, according to the same statement.
According to the leaks, “The Prime Minister explained that the plan is different from its predecessors in that we move from the method of incursions to the occupation of lands and staying in them.”
This comes a day after the Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, announced that the army has already begun to issue tens of thousands of summoning orders to the reserve forces to expand the military campaign in Gaza.
Two goals to expand the fighting
“We increase the pressure with the aim of restoring our members (prisoners) and defeating Hamas,” Zamir said.
Israel resumed land operations in Gaza last March after refusing to implement the provisions of a ceasefire agreement – which lasted for two months – by Egyptian Qatari and with the support of the United States.
Currently, Israel has already controls nearly a third of the Gaza Strip, but it faces increasing international pressure to resume the entry of aid, which prevents its entry into the Strip since last March.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched a war of genocide on Gaza with American support, until now more than 52,000 martyrs, most of them women and children, as well as tens of thousands of wounded, destroy the entire sector, displacement and starvation of the population.
