Israeli media dealt with a sharp division within the Israeli government regarding the possibility of reaching a prisoner exchange deal that includes ending the war on the Gaza Strip, in conjunction with the failure of the ruling coalition to pass the decision to extend the recruitment of reserves, and criticism from within the Likud party for the current military plans.
Israeli media said that the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement earlier stating that the team responsible for the talks to release the prisoners discussed a comprehensive deal that also included ending the war.
The 13 -year -old military affairs correspondent said that decisive hours are waiting for everyone to separate the expansion of the fighting and reaching an agreement.
He pointed out that the attention of the Israeli Defense Army is heading to Doha to understand whether the negotiating delegation will succeed in reaching a kind of flexibility in positions with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
He added that what is required is for Hamas to give up its demands to stop the war with international guarantees, and to agree to the proposals of the American envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkev.
For his part, former head of the prisoners and missing department in the army, Avi Kalo, said that if Israel is calling for a comprehensive deal, it must agree to Hamas demands, on top of which is the end of the battle.
He added that we must remember that Hamas and many forums in the Arab world are now demanding an end to the war from the logic of the need to devote himself to arranging the situation of the Gaza Strip, whether at the human level or at the level of government.
In the same context, the political analyst and presenter at Channel 12, Ben Kasimit, said: Maybe it is time to end the terrible prisoners ’issue and postpone the resumption of war.
Kasim asked: The issue is, did Netanyahu become a party prepared to achieve this matter even if it was a deal to release 10 prisoners and a two -month ceasefire? What about the two ministers, Etamar bin Ghafir and Bamliel Smotrich? We have not heard them for a long time.
Opposition
The Israeli media revealed an opposition position within the government, as the Minister of Internal Security Ben Ghaffir attacked Netanyahu’s statements, and wrote on his Facebook page that the proposal to end the war without defeating Hamas will never be achieved.
In a remarkable development, the government coalition failed to pass the decision to continue to recruit reserves according to order 8 during the meeting of the Foreign and Security Committee, where the decision fell to vote 4 with him and 7 against him.
“We are now 20 months away from an operational plan that must be said to be a truly unsuccessful and destroyed a tremendous price of dead and wounded.” It also did not achieve the operational goal, that is, the goals of the mini council (cabinet), which is to eliminate the military and authoritarian capabilities of Hamas.
He explained that today Hamas has a great force in the Gaza Strip and it governs the land and the population, and therefore the basic duty is not for every army commander or any Knesset member but rather every person familiar with any way that he makes sure that the lessons have been extracted.
The Knesset member praised the former Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, considering the incursions plan that he came with capable and even fell Hamas with strikes, but she did not defeat her, so Hamas got up again again and again.
He advised the army leaders to direct their strikes to the resistance from outside the Strip, and asked: Why should the soldiers enter the Shuja’ia? The soldiers should not be entered into Beit Hanoun. How many soldiers were killed in Beit Hanoun alone?
