Today, Thursday, the Israeli authorities released 11 Palestinian prisoners arrested during the continuous war on the Gaza Strip, in light of human rights reports documenting severe violations against the detainees, which included torture and medical neglect.

The released prisoners arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Kissovim Military crossing east of the city of Deir Al -Balah, where they were transferred directly to the Al -Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for medical care.

A medical source said that the prisoners “are undergoing comprehensive examinations,” noting that they suffer from clear effects of torture, exhaustion and malnutrition.

Last Monday, the Israeli occupation authorities released 10 Palestinian prisoners from the northern Gaza Strip, after months of arbitrary detention during the ground invasion in October 2023.

In successive reports, the Israeli human rights organization “Batemm” documented a systematic policy that Israel followed the Palestinian detainees, which includes “frequent torture, medical neglect, a sleep deprivation, a starvation, an insult and subjugation of sexual violence.”

According to the organization, the violations affected women, children and workers in medical personnel and civil defense, who have been arrested during Israeli land operations since October 27, 2023.

The Palestinian Prisoner Club indicated in a statement issued on April 17, that thousands of citizens of the Gaza Strip have been arrested since the outbreak of the war on October 7, in circumstances described as “cruel and terrifying”, amid a severe secrecy of their fate and place of detention.

Israel had released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from Gaza during the first phase of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on January 19, in exchange for the release of Israeli detainees in the Strip.

Israel has launched a war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, killing and wounding more than 171,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in addition to more than 11,000 missing.
