The Israeli Army Radio also quoted sources as saying that the first aid convoy will enter Gaza today, Monday, loaded with food and medicine.

Axios quoted Israeli officials as saying that aid will be transferred through several international organizations, “until the start of the new aid mechanism on May 24.”

American pressure

For its part, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that ministers attended the discussion of the introduction of humanitarian aid to Gaza, believed that the decision came as a result of American pressure.

The Israeli decision to introduce aid comes hours after Steve Witkev, the US Special President’s envoy to the Middle East, described the conditions on the ground in Gaza as very dangerous.

Wittakov told ABC that the administration of President Donald Trump will not allow a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“I don’t think there is any difference between President Trump’s positions and Prime Minister Netanyahu. The problem is currently how we enter all relief trucks to Gaza. We are working to send mobile kitchens and trucks loaded with flour, and the Israelis said that they will allow a large number of these trucks. Washington does not want to see a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and will not allow them to happen during President Trump.”

A race to avoid hunger

The World Food Program has said that food security analyzes in the Gaza Strip indicate that it is in a race against time to avoid starvation.

The World Food Program called on the international community to move urgently to resume the flow of aid.

The program warned that the waiting until the famine is confirmed, it is too late for many within the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the United Nations Children’s Fund said that the children of the Gaza Strip are facing continuous bombardment and are deprived of commodities, basic services and health care.

The organization explained that the situation has deteriorated more during the past two months due to the blockade imposed on the introduction of humanitarian aid to the sector.

A spokeswoman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza also called on Olga Chervco to open the crossings immediately.
