A senior leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) stressed that “there is no meaning” for any negotiations to stop the fire in light of the Israeli “starvation” in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to pressure the Israeli government to stop the “starvation crime.”

“There is no meaning to any indirect negotiations with the Israeli occupation, and there is no sense to deal with any new suggestions for the ceasefire, in light of the waring war and the war of genocide implemented by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” said Hamas, a member of Hamas.

He added that “the international community is required to pressure the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the crime of starvation, thirst and killing in Gaza.”

Naim added that “the international community, foremost of which is the international institutions, considered the policy of starvation pursued by Israel a war crime,” stressing that “it is necessary to work to enter aid immediately to the Gaza Strip in light of the famine that is expanding.”

Last week, 3 United Nations agencies urged Israel to end the ban on humanitarian aid that exposes the residents of the Gaza Strip to famine.

The UN Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) Philip Lazarini has banned Israel from entering humanitarian aid since the second of March, stressing that it causes “a human -making famine with political motives.”

Trump’s visit

The US special envoy Stephen Witkeov had previously expressed his hope that there will be progress in efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza “before or during President Donald Trump’s visit” to the region.

And the Axius correspondent quoted Witkeov – in statements to reporters during an event on the occasion of “Independence Day” at the Israeli embassy in Washington – as saying that he is talking to Qatar, Egypt and Israel almost every day and hopes to achieve progress.

He also stressed the importance of restoring the prisoners, stressing the need for Hamas to disarm it.

For his part, the leader of the Israeli opposition, Yair Labid, called for an exchange deal in Gaza, noting that the military pressure has so far killed more prisoners who returned them.

Maariv newspaper also quoted Lapid as saying that “the Netanyahu government cannot manage anything and therefore it will not be able to manage Gaza.”

These positions regarding negotiations come at a time when demonstrations came out with the participation of the families of the prisoners, to condemn the decision to expand military operations in Gaza and hold Netanyahu responsible for the fate of their children.

The demonstrators raised slogans and chanted slogans refusing to expand the military operation, warning that this endangers the lives of the prisoners.

They also renewed their demand to conclude a deal that enables the return of prisoners from the Gaza Strip and end the war.

Since the start of the aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, at least 52,567 Palestinians were martyred and 118 thousand and 610 others were wounded, according to the statements of the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
