She emphasized that the number of people with high levels of acute food insecurity has increased for the sixth year in a row in 2024, and that the largest factor in acute food insecurity is “conflicts”.
It stated that the number of people in the fifth stage (catastrophic/famine), which is the worst level according to the integrated classification of the stages of food security (IPC), increased more than twice as much as 2023.
