Israeli society in general and the residents of Gaza settlements in particular suffer from “post -shock syndrome” after the Palestinian resistance crossed the separation wall between the Strip and Israel in the “Al -Aqsa Flood” attack.
The movie “Gaza syndrome” – within a documentary series entitled “The Price of War on Israel” – presented testimonies and accounts of soldiers in the ranks of the occupation army about what happened in the attack of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war.
The documentary series – which was produced during the war of extermination on Gaza – hosts soldiers, security figures and Israeli elites, to talk about what they described as “intelligence failure in Gaza”, as well as their narration on the war and its repercussions on Israeli society.
The series also presents the testimonies of soldiers returning from the field and studies of psychologists that reveal the size of the psychological pain that the citizens of Israel feel, after the continuous genocide in Gaza.
In an indication of the fragrance of the tax paid by Israel and its army, one of the soldiers said that he urinated in his clothes at night due to post -traumatic disturbances, while another confirmed that he could not sleep in his room “if he does not drink alcohol.”
Likewise, Israelis – including soldiers – trembling when they hear a bike or an ambulance, thinking that they were sirens, believing that missiles and missiles were coming to them.
The spread of post -trauma syndrome is widely believed in Israel, amid the talk of some Israelis that everyone has it, but it “has not exploded and has not yet come out.”
The film presented the statements of an Israeli soldier in which he confirmed that he saw his colleagues “burning in the field”, while another narrated the size of the shock he saw in Gaza, as he described the tunnels of the resistance as “huge and booby -trapped with kilograms of explosives”, which killed a number of his comrades and wounded others and amputated their outskirts.
In turn, Ashira Darwish, who specializes in treating psychological trauma, said that the Israeli soldiers fired fire on the Gazans, storming their homes and burning them, are programmed by the army and its leadership.
Darwish indicated that these soldiers are heading – after the end of their battles in Gaza – to India and Latin America in search of treatments, confirming that large numbers of suicide and addiction are in the ranks of the Israeli army.
According to the spokeswoman, there is a “psychological impact on those who exterminate a defenseless people, who laughs and does not care about what is happening.”
For his part, Muhannad Mustafa, an expert in Israeli affairs, affirmed the suffering of thousands of Israeli soldiers psychologically due to the war on Gaza, but he pointed out that “the brutality of this war made many soldiers not to feel any remorse for the violations of international law.”
She concluded that these actions indicate “a very large moral decline in Israeli society.”
Last February, the Israeli newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” said that the army reserve soldiers who had completed months of military service were increasingly asking for help to obtain a treatment for mental health.
The newspaper pointed to a great demand from the reserve soldiers for psychotherapy since the launch of a program that allows them this right, and stated that 170,000 soldiers have been registered in the program to benefit from psychotherapy services.
In the same context, the “Zaman of Israel” website stressed that the war on Gaza has greatly affected the mental health of the residents of Israel.
The war, according to the site, led to an unprecedented situation, as a very large percentage of the population became at risk of developing various mental disorders, including PTSD, depression, and addiction.
