Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned of the continued presence of “terrorist organizations” in Syria and their danger to stability, saying that if these organizations do not solve itself, Türkiye has the capabilities to make them outside the regional system.
Fidan stressed – in an interview conducted by the editor -in -chief of the Qatari newspaper, Jaber Al -Harami in Türkiye, is published today – that the unity of Syria, its territorial integrity, its reconstruction, and the achievement of national reconciliation between the Syrians is a fundamental priority for Turkey.
He praised the performance of the new Syrian administration regarding the challenges of Syria, saying that it is behaving during this stage with the utmost wisdom and keenness.
He pointed out that all components of the Syrian people are granted equal citizenship rights, expressing their confidence that the establishment of the Syrian People’s Assembly is an important step for the legislative march in the country.
Speaking of the continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Fidan pointed out that there are 20 global initiatives and alliances to stop the ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians and adopt a two -state solution.
He called on the Islamic world to move to stop the extermination of the Palestinians in the occupied territories, stressing the rejection of any plan to displace the Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank and that any solution to the Palestinian issue should be placed with the Palestinians and for them.
Turkish -Turkish relations
On his country’s relations with the State of Qatar, the Turkish minister stated that Doha and Ankara realize their role in supporting regional peace and security, pointing to the increasing importance of Türkiye and Qatar’s relations among the complex dynamics and the region’s tensions.
He added that the two countries are adopting regional positions that make priority for dialogue and understanding, as they are the basis for resolving crises, as he put it.
He stressed the importance of the Turkish Gulf relations, saying that they are deep roots, noting the continued intensive contacts between the two sides, whether at the bilateral level or at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which reflects mutual coordination.
Join the European Union
The dialogue touched on the efforts of Türkiye’s accession to the European Union, and Fidan said that Türkiye’s membership in the European Union is an interest of the Union as it is in favor of Türkiye.
He explained that deepening the European Union’s partnership with Türkiye would increase its ability to move towards the developments witnessed by the continent and the world.
He also noted Türkiye’s efforts to end the Russian -Ukrainian war through its leadership of the Black Sea initiative in cooperation with the United Nations, organizing the exchange of prisoners, and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, while encouraging the warring parties to reach a negotiating solution.
