At a time when US President Donald Trump was landing on a remarkable Gulf tour, press reports were talking about unprecedented tension in his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
These tensions, which Al-Jazeera Net attempted to reveal its reality and dimensions through its correspondents and analysts, vowed a fundamental shift in the nature of American-Israeli relations.
The story began to reveal when the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) preceded Trump’s Gulf visit to the release of the Israeli-American captive, Idan Alexander, and the movement confirmed that the release came as a result of direct negotiations with Washington, which Trump considered a good intention.
However, this release sparked a wave of sharp criticism in Israel against Netanyahu, as Israeli newspapers said that Tel Aviv was subjected to a “painful insult” from the American president, because he held direct negotiations with Hamas from behind the back of Netanyahu.
Israeli analysts considered that the matter carries deep political connotations and several questions about the future of coordination between Tel Aviv and Washington, as it represents a diplomatic precedent in light of fears of the decline of the role of Israel in favor of regional and international understandings that are being separated from it.
In the midst of this crisis, the American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkeov, called on Netanyahu to seize the opportunity to restore the prisoners.
Trump increases tension
However, Israeli newspapers revealed that Netanyahu is a new proposal to an exchange deal that paved the way to end the war, which represents a political embarrassment for him, given his inconsistency with the declared goals of his government.
The tension increased a series of decisions made by Trump during his Gulf tour, as American media have been able to be severely surprised and angry with Trump’s announcement that the United States had stopped its military campaign against the Iranian (Houthi) group supported in Yemen.
The matter did not stop there. Rather, Trump’s announcement was followed by the removal of sanctions on Syria, and that was previously agreed to sell F-35 fighters to Turkey, as well as the signing of huge strategic and commercial agreements during the Gulf visit.
These steps that Trump has taken without prior coordination with Tel Aviv has an unprecedented anger at Netanyahu.
In the face of these developments, Netanyahu practiced a kind of escalation in the speech, as he stressed that Israel will continue the war on Gaza, even if a temporary ceasefire agreement is reached.
He reaffirmed his intention to the displacement of the residents of the Gaza Strip into another country, in an escalatory move that reflects his attempt to show the independence of the Israeli decision.
Despite the great apathy that Trump shows towards Netanyahu, the American president has ignored talking about the war in the Gaza Strip during his Gulf visit, which is attributed by analysts to the absence of an agreement that can be announced, and does not necessarily mean a change in the American position supporting Israel in general.
In search of the roots of the crisis, Al -Jazeera Net correspondent in Israel said that reports are talking about Trump’s cutting off with Netanyahu, against the background of what the Americans considered attempts by the latter to manipulate their administration positions.
Observers believe that this boycott reflects a shift in American policy towards a more independent approach in managing the Palestinian file.
Netanyahu’s marginalization
In America, the Al -Jazeera Net correspondent reported that Trump has increasingly marginalized Netanyahu, which raises the concerns of Israeli supporters of the Trump administration’s movement unilaterally in Middle East issues, similar to what he did with Iran and the Houthis.
Analyzes indicate that Trump was convinced that Netanyahu is not the partner who can be dealt with, as the American president “hates those who are soaked by him, and who does not serve his personal and American interests, and also hates those who deal from behind his back”, which applies to the Israeli Prime Minister in the eyes of the current American administration.
Al -Jazeera Net published an article by an American writer in which she made it clear that Trump does not carefully care about extermination in Gaza, but rather that the continuation of the war in it hinders his vision of what he calls “Rivera Middle East”.
She said that excessive war may be an ultimately useless investment, at least from Trump’s “real estate” perspective.
Analysts believe that Netanyahu is not serious and will try to procrastinate, but he is in a very severe dilemma, because the American administration is determined to create a kind of calm in the region.
On the other hand, others note that the dispute between the United States and Israel is nothing more than a tactical in some files.
In light of these tensions, the question remains: Will Washington be able to impose its vision on Tel Aviv and end the war in Gaza, or will the “Israeli Jamuh” will continue to threaten security and peace in the region?
