Despite the great apathy showed by US President Donald Trump towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he ignored the talk about the war in the Gaza Strip during his presence in Saudi Arabia – today Tuesday – something that analysts attribute to the absence of an agreement that can be announced until the moment.
Analysts believe that the absence of Gaza from Trump’s talk does not deny the existence of many indications that the American president intends to move away from Israel in a number of files such as Syria, Iran and Yemen.
Trump arrived in Riyadh at the beginning of his first round in the region since his return to the White House early this year and will also include both Qatar and the Emirates.
Transformations and challenge
The visit came in the midst of major transformations in Trump’s policy towards the thorny files in the region, where he announced the lifting of the sanctions that were imposed on Syria, and retracted Iran’s threat to the war unless it was accepted by a new nuclear agreement, as well as selling it “F -35” fighters to Turkey, and the signing of a military deal with Saudi Arabia is the largest in history and is estimated at 142 billion dollars.
On the other hand, Netanyahu practiced a kind of escalation in the speech, as he stressed that Israel will continue the war on Gaza, even if it reached a temporary ceasefire agreement, and renewed his intention to the displacement of the residents of the Gaza Strip to another country.
The Secretary -General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Dr. Mustafa Al -Barghouthi, surprised that Trump did not respond to these statements during his presence in Riyadh, as well as he ignored the talk about the fate of the Palestinians in general in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.
During his participation in the “Path of Events” program, Al -Barghouti said that this behavior confirms that the dispute between the United States and Israel is nothing more than a tactical in some files. He stressed that the biggest challenge is to fulfill Washington with its promise of introducing aid to Gaza.
Al -Barghouti emphasized that the situation in Gaza reached a stage that requires showing the red eye of Netanyahu, and also requires global, Arab and Islamic pressure to stop the starvation of the Palestinians.
The professor of political science at Kuwait University, Dr. Abdullah Al -Shayji, agreed with Al -Barghouti’s talk, saying that Netanyahu’s talk about continuing the war and displacing the population “carries a kind of challenge to the American president, who was expected to hint at least that he may take a position on Netanyahu, in response to what he is doing in Gaza.”
Al -Shayji believes that Netanyahu is practicing a great escalation in the face of Trump, who also did not announce the great plan he promised before his visit, but he also expressed the possibility of this happening during the American Gulf Summit scheduled for Wednesday.
Ignore and narrowed on Netanyahu
Al -Shayji attributed his belief that Trump’s possibility of declaring a plan on Gaza during the American Gulf Summit was that the president “continues Netanyahu in more than one angle in files such as Syria, Iran and Yemen.”
But Al -Shayji also criticized Trump’s continued attack on the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), with which he negotiated directly in order for the prisoner Idan Alexander to regain, while Netanyahu, who tried to embarrass him greatly during his presence in Saudi Arabia, whether by statements or actual military escalation in Gaza.
As for the first researcher at the Al -Jazeera Center for Studies, Dr. Yaqa Makki, it is believed that the absence of a mature agreement can be announced that prompted Trump to ignore the talk about Gaza on the first day of his visit, but he believes that Trump has taken practical steps that harmed Netanyahu’s plans in a number of important files.
Makki believes that Trump’s failure to visit Israel, which celebrates what she calls on independence on it, is close to it, reflects his ignorance of it, and that the release of Alexander Alexander was part of a broader agreement that is being done to complete it away from it.
Also, the military agreements signed by Trump with Saudi Arabia and Turkey “lose Israel being the most superior in the region,” and reveals that they no longer have to object to such agreements, says Makki.
Even when Trump called Riyadh to normalization, he did not pressure it and did not mortgage this with the huge military agreement, but rather he called for this matter at the time that you see it appropriate, which Makki sees as an affirmation of the spacing between Washington and Netanyahu.
In addition, Trump has spoiled all Israel’s plans to divide Syria and occupy parts of it by opening new relations with Damascus, according to Makki, who believes that Trump is convinced of Netanyahu’s failure in everything.
Makki concluded by saying that Netanyahu will be subjected to internal pressure because he failed to maintain relations with Washington, and allowed Arab countries and Turkey to approach Trump more than Israel, which may give it the opportunity to achieve breach in files such as the Palestine file.
