The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Munir Al -Barash, confirmed – in an interview with Al -Jazeera – that 57 children have died due to malnutrition in the Gaza Strip, and said that the sector is experiencing an extended catastrophe that threatens a comprehensive humanitarian catastrophe if the Israeli siege continues.

Al -Barash talked about the repercussions of the siege, starvation and the continuous Israeli bombardment on the Gaza Strip, and said that the two -month -old girl Jinan Saleh Al -Sukafi died today in the morning due to the lack of therapeutic milk, and she was suffering from acute diarrhea for two months, and her died rises to 57 the number of children who died as a result of malnutrition.

He also referred to the case of the child, Malik Ahmed Al -Qanoua, who was born without a brain in Al -Awda Al -Ahly Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, holding the Israeli occupation fully responsible for deformation of the embryos in the wombs of their mothers due to the lack of insertion of the drug and many vitamins for childhood care and brain formation, especially folic acid.

He accused the Israeli occupation of bombing the densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip with explosives and chemicals, which led to cases of deformation of the embryos, which happened in the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Investigation committee

He called on an international investigation committee in the type of weapons that Israel uses against the Palestinians and leads to distortions among children. The UN Security Council also called for an emergency famine in Gaza based on the general recommendations of the Secretary -General, the World Food Program and expert reports.

He also called for the activation of binding measures under the United Nations Charter to take measures to open corridors and deliver food and medicine to preserve the lives of Gazans.

Since last March, Israel has closed the sector crossings in front of the entry of food, relief, medical and goods, causing a significant deterioration in the humanitarian conditions of the Palestinians, according to governmental, human rights and international reports.

Relief organizations in Gaza stressed that food, water and fuel is about to exist and that the prices of the remaining scarce materials are out of reach, according to the Associated Press.
