On Thursday, 29 members of the US Senate submitted a draft resolution calling on the administration of President Donald Trump to end the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip immediately.
The legislators called on the American administration to “use all diplomatic tools” to end the blockade imposed on the sector.
They also described the famine in Gaza as a humanitarian catastrophe, expressing their “great concern” over the continuous humanitarian crisis there.
Democratic Senator Peter Wellsh said that half a million Palestinians in Gaza are facing famine, and that children and infants are starving in the Strip.
“The famine in Gaza … a tragedy that was expected and could have fully avoided.”
“More than two months ago, the Israeli forces prevented the entry of thousands of tons of food, dialysis devices, infantry, shelter, and other entry of Gaza, and as a result of this siege was over the energy of the families there.”
Israel has been continuing a widespread genocide against the Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023, including killing, destruction, starvation and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders to the International Court of Justice to stop it.
In early March, the first phase of a ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel ended on January 19, 2025, with Egyptian -American mediation and American support.
While Hamas adhered to the terms of the first stage, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is required for international justice, from the start of his second phase in response to extremists in his ruling coalition, according to the Israeli media.
