The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that about 1500 Palestinians have lost their eyes as a result of the Israeli aggression on the sector, and also said that 4,000 others are threatened with its loss in light of the lack of medicines, medical equipment and the collapse of the health system.
Dr. Abdel Salam Sabah, Director of El -Ayoun Hospital in Gaza, said – in a press statement today, Sunday – that the health sector is witnessing a dangerous deficit in consumers and medical devices for ophthalmia, which will cause almost complete collapse of surgical services, especially retinal diseases and retinal disorder caused by diabetes and internal bleeding.
He explained that Al -Ayoun Hospital currently has only consuming surgical scissors used repeatedly, which doubles the risks of patients ’lives and prevents them from rescuing them.
Dr. Abdel Salam pointed out that many of the eyes injuries caused by explosions and Israeli bombing operations need medical materials such as helium and microscopic, and they are about to completely exile.
He warned that Al -Ayoun Hospital is about to announce the loss of the ability to provide any surgical services, unless immediate and urgent intervention is made by the concerned authorities and international organizations.
The humanitarian and health crisis in the stricken sector is worse, with the continued targeting of the occupation of medical, humanitarian and charitable institutions, whether international or local, which seeks to provide vital services, in light of the stopping of many of them due to aggression and the closure of crossings and the prevention of the entry of humanitarian and medical aid.
The health sector in Gaza is suffering from a suffocating crisis, while continuing to prevent the entry of medicines and medical supplies, and the Israeli targeting of medical teams continues through killing or arrest, as well as the systematic destruction of the main hospitals, in light of the escalation of the continuous Israeli aggression on the besieged sector.
