The Washington Post, quoting a diplomatic source, said that the US foreign ministries and treasury are promising potential sanctions against Russia.

For his part, the US envoy to Ukraine Keith Kelog told the island that there is a very strong package of sanctions on Russia prepared by members of the US Senate.

The US envoy to Ukraine added that the sanctions include fees that may reach 500% on Russian energy, expressing his hope that things will not reach this extent.

He said that Russian President Vladimir Putin put US President Donald Trump in a position in which he feels that he was exploited, and this is very bad, as he put it.

Kelog added that Trump has given Putin real opportunities to end the war, but he continues to kill civilians in Ukraine.

The American envoy to Russia and Ukraine also expressed the hope that he will obtain the two conditions of the two countries to integrate them and prepare a memorandum of understanding that ends the war.

Meanwhile, the Politico website quoted 4 US officials as saying that Trump had not taken a decision to impose sanctions on Russia in response to the escalation of its attacks on Ukraine.

The source added, quoting an American official, that some people in the Trump administration told him that the sanctions against Russia would harm US companies and to push Moscow away from peace talks in Ukraine.

The site quoted two other sources that there is a desire for Republicans in the Senate to discuss legislation to impose sanctions on Russia, and that this matter was discussed during the past week.

President Trump said on Tuesday that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, was playing with fire, and added that what Putin did not realize is that had it not been for his presence (Trump), Russia would have already witnessed very bad events.

Trump’s statement comes after German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz spoke about the lifting of restrictions over the extraordinary weapons to Ukraine, which a German government official described as not a change in politics.

CNN quoted well -informed sources, that the American president may move forward in the coming days in imposing new sanctions on Russia.
