Israeli media reported, on Thursday, that the Australian authorities refused to grant former Israeli Minister Ayalet Shaked an entry visa to the country, due to the possibility that she would “incite sedition,” according to what was reported by Anatolia Agency.

Maariv newspaper explained that Shaked was invited to participate in a conference of a Jewish organization conducting a strategic dialogue between Israel and Australia, and it is believed that her request for a visa to enter the country was rejected for political reasons.

The Israeli news website Ynet quoted Shaked – who previously served as Minister of Justice and Interior and a member of the Knesset – as saying that the current Australian government is “hostile to Israel, strongly pro-Palestinian, and even anti-Semitic.”

She added, “Because of my opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state, they will not allow me to visit and participate in a strategic dialogue between our two countries… These are dark days for Australian democracy, and this (Australian) government has chosen the wrong side of history,” she said.

As for the Times of Israel, it quoted Australian media reports that Shaked’s visa application was rejected because it might “incite sedition.”

The newspaper pointed out that the law used to prevent entry stipulates that people may be denied entry if it is believed that they may “distort a segment of Australian society or incite sedition.”

In addition to her rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state, Shaked is a supporter of the “genocidal” war committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which resulted in more than 148,000 martyrs and wounded Palestinians.

Today, Thursday, the International Criminal Court issued two international arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
