Clashes renewed on Thursday evening between the resistance and the Palestinian Authority security services inside the Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank.
Local sources reported that fires broke out in houses in the camp as a result of the clashes.
For about 3 weeks, clashes have continued within the “Protect the Homeland” operation launched by the Palestinian Authority in the camp, which resulted in the killing of Yazid Jaaysa, who is persecuted by the Israeli occupation and a leader in the Jenin Brigade of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement.
The death toll from the Palestinian security operation also rose to 7 Palestinians, including 3 members of the security forces and 4 citizens, including the leader of the Jenin Ja’aysa Brigade.
Two days ago, Abu Watan, the leader of the Jenin Brigade, said – in an intervention on Tel Aviv Tribune – that the resistance weapons in the camp are directed only against the Israeli occupation, stressing that the battalion will not allow any party to seize this weapon, no matter the sacrifices.
Abu Watan added, “We are steadfast on the camp land, and we will not deviate from the decision to resist even if it costs us our lives,” noting that the security services are besieging the camp from all directions and are using new weapons such as RPG shells, and are also targeting homes randomly and rising to the roofs of buildings. surrounding.
For his part, spokesman for the Palestinian Authority security services, Brigadier General Anwar Rajab, confirmed that the Authority is working to end what he called the state of “chaos and insecurity” in the Jenin camp.
Palestinian factions, including the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Islamic Jihad, accused the Palestinian security services of pursuing resistance fighters in Jenin.
The Palestinian NGO Network, which includes 135 non-governmental organizations in the West Bank and Gaza, called for “adopting dialogue as a way to address the Jenin crisis,” stressing its readiness to play a role in removing obstacles that prevent defusing tension.
A state of tension prevails in the city of Jenin and its camp, and sounds of explosions and exchanges of gunfire are heard from time to time.
For 4 years, the Jenin camp has been subjected to almost daily Israeli incursions, which resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of resistance fighters and the destruction of the camp’s infrastructure.
With American support, since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 153,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly.
