According to the US Middle East Military Command, the missiles were ready for launch and posed an “immediate threat to merchant shipping” in the region.
This is the fourth US strike on the Houthis in less than a week.
Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon Press Secretary: “In our assessment, we hit what we intended to hit with good effect. Again, the goal here was to disrupt and degrade Houthi capabilities to carry out attacksand we believe that in total, in terms of range and the number of strikes we performed, we degraded their ability to attack.”
The Houthis are increasing attacks on merchant ships suspected of heading towards Israel.
