Real Madrid stands only two games from breaking the record number of matches in one season in the history of European football.
Real Madrid yesterday played its official match No. 66 during the 2024-2025 football season, against its Italian counterpart, Juventus, in the final round of the Club World Cup, according to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”.

The Royal Club set a pure European date with its German counterpart Borussia Dortmund next Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the tournament, which is a duplicate match of the Champions League final 2023-2024 season.
The Spanish German summit will be the 67th match of Real Madrid in the season, to equal with two English teams in the record number of matches that a European club played in one season.
The English duo Liverpool and Chelsea played the same number of matches during the 1983-1984 and 2012-2013 seasons, respectively.
And if the coach Xabi Alonso team succeeds in overcoming Borussia Dortmund and qualifying for the Golden Square, he will play the 68th match against the winner of the France Paris Saint -Germain and Bayern Munich to be unique in the record number of matches with one season.
If Real Madrid reaches the final, the royal team will end the season with 69 official matches, which is an unprecedented number in the history of European football, according to the same newspaper.
The newspaper “Marca” commented on this by saying, “This is an achievement that does not reflect a new record only, but also highlights the team’s ability to withstand and adapt amid a crowded schedule.”
Real Madrid did not know the taste of rest in the 2024-2025 season after it reached the Champions League quarter-finals with its new system, and played all the Spanish League and King’s Cup matches to the final as well as the Spanish Super Cup matches, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Club Cup, then travel to the United States to participate in the Club World Cup in its expanded version.
Sometimes Real Madrid players played additional runs, which are combined factors that led the team to make additional physical effort.
The name of Real Madrid players is prepared for a symbol of the “long and arduous” season, Federico Valverde, who may reach 72 official matches (with the club and the Uruguay national team) and Luka Modric, who may end the season with 73 official matches (with the club and Croatia), if the royal club reaches the club of the Club World Cup.
