Rallies against violence against women organized around the world


Thousands of people demonstrated this Saturday against violence against women. Between 12 and 15% of women in Europe face domestic violence on a daily basis.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, thousands of people demonstrated for better protection of victims of violence, in the workplace, as a couple or in armed conflicts .

The Council of Europe estimates that between 12 and 15% of women in Europe face domestic violence on a daily basis.

Like many countries, Spain has strengthened its legislation to deal with this problem. But feminist associations are warning of the emergence of new types of violence via new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.

“What is important is that the voice of women and the voice of all feminists against violence, against all types of violence against women, are heard loud and clear” said Ana Redondo, Spanish Minister of Equality.

In Rome, the march against violence against women took on particular importance with the murder of Giulia Cecchettin by her ex-boyfriend.

Similar rallies took place in the United States, Latin America and Asia.
