Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, received today in the Republic of Ireland the “Tiberry International Peace” award.

In a speech to him in front of the honoring ceremony, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman expressed his acceptance of the award “with humility and gratitude, not as a personal honor, but rather in the name of the State of Qatar, its people, its principles, and its leadership. This award represents a recognition of what Qatar has become today: a fixed voice for peace, defending dialogue, and a nation that does not soften before the challenges.”

He added in his speech that the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, “a rare model of leadership in today’s world, as he is not satisfied with the ruling, but feels, and dedicates all his efforts and spirit to every duty to meet the needs of his citizens, to supporting regional and international peace.”

He pointed out that he won the honor of serving his country under the leadership of Sheikh Tamim for more than 10 years. “I will continue to honor that as long as I am able.

A very important moment

The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said, “This award comes in a very important moment. Just one week ago, our country was subjected to a direct missile attack, it was a clear response to the recklessness that threatens peace and stability in our region. While our air defenses were carrying out its duty, our diplomats were working tirelessly to secure a ceasefire with dawn.”

Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman added that “that moment was not a moment of revenge, but rather a moment that wisdom and self -control controlled. I must be clear: Qatar has chosen self -control from a position of strength, not from a weak location, because we set the stability of our region and the welfare of its peoples over fiery speeches and strengths.”

He stressed that Qatar has repeatedly warned “of the risks of the regional conflict, and that Israel’s reckless behavior may exacerbate the conflict to unbearable levels. The price of ignoring these warnings is not paid in Gaza alone, but throughout the region.”
