The State of Qatar called on the international community to show courage and political will to stop the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.

During a general discussion within the framework of the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Jawaher bint Abdulaziz Al Suwaidi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar’s delegation to Geneva, read a statement urging the international community to intervene effectively to stop the aggression on Gaza, end the Israeli occupation, and provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people who are being subjected to genocide under the eyes and knowledge of everyone, according to the same statement.

The statement also called for obligating Israel to implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly and the International Court of Justice, and to ensure that all those responsible for the violations and crimes committed against the Palestinians are held accountable.

Qatari diplomacy stressed the need to establish a system that guarantees human rights for all, regardless of race, gender, colour or religion.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar’s delegation to Geneva said that it is impossible to turn a blind eye to violations and crimes committed against some people and draw attention to others simply because the victim is different, stressing that all people are equal in human dignity, as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights more than 75 years ago.

Jawhara bint Abdul Aziz Al Suwaidi pointed out that this principle applies to the current situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, especially with the continuation of the Israeli aggression and crimes that have resulted in more than 40,000 martyrs, tens of thousands of wounded, and more than 1.9 million forcibly displaced people.

In her intervention at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Qatari diplomacy addressed the ongoing suffering of the Sudanese people as a result of the fighting that has led to the deterioration of the situation on all levels, and expressed her country’s aspiration for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of fighting, followed by negotiations to reach a sustainable peace agreement.
