A leading source in the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades told Tel Aviv Tribune that what the mujahideen carried out in the al-Damj neighbourhood in the Jenin camp was a message to the enemy that the continuation of its aggression would have very harsh consequences for its soldiers and vehicles.
The Qassam leader added that the resistance situation in the West Bank is at its best stage of coordination and integration between the resistance factions in all their formations, noting that the Qassam Brigades and the resistance factions have prepared themselves for long days of confrontation and clashes.
He explained that the fighters redistributed their combat units in the northern West Bank in order to thwart the ongoing Israeli military operation.
For its part, the Mujahideen Brigades in Jenin said that “after its fighters returned from the fighting fronts, they confirmed that they targeted the military forces gathered on Nazareth Street in Jenin with two highly explosive devices, and they confirmed that they monitored the retreat of the enemy forces after the targeting operation.”
One soldier killed, others injured
Israeli media sources reported that an Israeli soldier was killed and others were injured in battles in the Jabriyat neighborhood in the city of Jenin.
Pictures circulated showing a number of soldiers carrying an injured soldier from inside the Al-Damj neighborhood in Jenin today.
Other photos showed helicopters landing at the Jalameh military checkpoint north of Jenin, apparently to transport wounded soldiers, while a helicopter also landed at Rambam Hospital in Haifa after transporting wounded soldiers during clashes in Jenin camp.
The clashes continue
In parallel, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that armed clashes continued between Palestinian resistance fighters and the occupation forces during their ongoing storming of the Al-Damj neighbourhood in Jenin camp.
Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the occupation forces re-stormed areas from which they had withdrawn this morning in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin, including storming the Khalid bin al-Walid Mosque.
The occupation sent more vehicles and bulldozers to several areas in the eastern neighborhood and raided homes in the Damj neighborhood, and spread to other neighborhoods. The occupation also demolished the wall and gate of the main and only cemetery in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin.
Both the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said that they were engaged in armed clashes with the occupation forces in the town of Kafr Dan, west of the city of Jenin.
Commenting on the current events, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Herzi Halevi, said that the Israeli army is conducting a campaign in Jenin, with the aim of thwarting terrorist operations such as the one that took place in the Etzion area, according to his expression.
Hamas congratulates
In the same context, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) described the double operation near Gush Etzion and the settlement of Karmi Tzur, north of Hebron, as heroic, and said that it was a clear message that the resistance will remain as long as the occupation continues to target the Palestinian people.
Hamas added that the operation that took place yesterday confirms that the occupation cannot isolate any part of the Palestinian territories, noting that the resistance will surprise the occupation at all times and places.
The movement called on the Palestinians to further confront and respond to the occupation’s ongoing crimes and plans, according to the statement.
