Putin offers Ukraine direct talks in Istanbul news

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed Moscow’s readiness to hold serious and direct negotiations with Kiev without preconditions in Istanbul, Turkey, next Thursday.

Putin said during a press conference in the capital, Moscow, that his country has never refused to dialogue with Ukraine, adding that Russia wanted to hold serious talks.

The Russian president did not rule out the possibility of a ceasefire during negotiations with Ukraine.

Putin also indicated that Russia thanks all the brokers who helped try to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict, including the administration of US President Donald Trump.

For his part, Yuri Ushakov, Russian Assistant President for Foreign Affairs, said that a Russian delegation will leave for Istanbul, and will be announced details of the delegation’s formation soon.
