Vladimir Putin accuses the United States of pushing Russia to its limits and fueling a spiral of conflict in Ukraine.

The Kremlin leader warned the United States as he spoke to Russian Defense Ministry officials.

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia: “The United States continues to supply the illegitimate de facto regime in Kyiv with weapons and money, sending mercenaries and military advisers and thus encouraging a further escalation of the conflict. They are taking us to the red line, beyond which we can no longer retreat. We begin to react, and immediately they frighten their population, in ancient times – with the Soviet threat, today with the Russian threat.

On the ground, the Ukrainian army has been retreating at a greater pace since the fall. Russia claims to have taken control of 189 localities since the start of the year.

For its part, Kyiv is demanding more support from its Western allies.

Donald Trump calls for a “immediate ceasefire” and the American administration denounces the presence of North Korean soldiers alongside Russian troops.
