The Jordanian capital, Amman, and other cities, witnessed the departure of protest activities, in which the participants expressed their rejection of the starvation practiced by the Israeli occupation over the people of Gaza in light of the continuation of the war and the blockade of the Strip, calling on the Jordanian government to move urgently with all the pressure papers to deliver aid.
In the capital, Amman, a massive march was launched from the popular Al -Tafila neighborhood, where the participants knocked home utensils in a symbolic scene that embodies the hunger and suffering, chanting angry slogans, condemning the silence of Arab governments towards the tragedy of Gaza, and the demonstrators raised slogans supporting the Palestinian resistance, and rejecting the agreements with the occupation.
The march started from the Jaafar Al -Tayyar Mosque with the wide participation of citizens, after several months of the authorities prevented the organization of central activities, as was the case since the beginning of the aggression in October 2023.
In the city of Irbid, north of the Kingdom, a number of protesters tried to organize a march in front of the Hashemi Mosque after the evening prayer, but the security forces prevented them from moving, and formed a security cordon that prevented the start of the march, so that the event turned into a pause in front of the mosque during which the participants expressed their anger as a result of the scenes and calls outside Gaza, and demanded to stop starvation and support the steadfastness of the Palestinians in the besieged sector.
Commenting on these activities, the Jordanian parliamentary deputy, Wissam Al -Rabihat, told Al -Jazeera Net that “this move comes as a direct act on the war of starvation practiced by the occupied entity on our people in Gaza, in light of the applied Arab silence.”
He explained that “this campaign and the international collusion practiced on Gaza, everyone in a state of distress and oppression, so people called for an unprecedented march this night in the Al -Tafila neighborhood in the capital Amman, where the official chants of Jordan called for continuing to provide urgent assistance.”
Al -Rabihat added that the popular movement in Jordan “came to get up to everyone: officials, rulers, leaders, parties, influential, and the general public, to rise to each of them according to their ability and capacity,” stressing that “the people of Gaza today are not demanding the military running, but rather demanding a drink of water and a fraction of bread, and this reflects the size of the deterioration and the miserable situation that we have reached.”
According to activists, additional activities and marches were announced in various governorates, and calls were spread through the communication sites as part of a popular campaign in response to the calls outside the sector, and to demand Arab governments to take more severe positions towards the occupation, and to cut political and economic relations with it.
These moves come at a time when the Gaza Strip lives one of the worst humanitarian crises, as the residents face a severe shortage of food, water and medicine, amid the continuation of the Israeli war and the suffocating siege imposed for nearly 21 months.
